One of my really good friends was getting married and despite knowing my “sole-proprietor” status (as I hear singlehood is now termed in entrepreneurial circles), sent me an invitation for two to their wedding ceremony. How ironic. Either way, I happily accepted the invitation. Days flew past and I didn’t put much thought into the issue of my “escort”. On the day of the wedding, still with no suitable company, I consoled myself with the often wise words of my friend Steve who says, “you don’t carry the sun to the beach – you only pack your choice of sunscreen.”
A fellow commercial/advertising photographer and good friend of mine (he doesn’t know it yet though), Chase Jarvis, recently wrote: WHO you are matters less now than ever before. Pedigrees no longer matter. You can go from nobody to famous, or rich, or happy, or successful without anyone else’s permission.
